Half of eligible BP claims not filed by South Mississippi businesses
Here is a shocking stat for South Mississippi… almost 50% of all eligible BP business claims have not been filed as of Oct. 2014 according to the Legal Examiner.
This means only HALF of our local businesses, despite direct damage because of the BP Oil Spill, have even filed for compensation under the settlement. Check out these numbers:
Jackson County –
• 2,250 – Estimated BP Business Claims
• 1,143 – Claims filed by Businesses
• Almost 50% of BP claims not filed
• Average Claim Value =$182,000 per claim

• 2,192 – Claims filed by Businesses
